Several methods and principles of tap water purification
In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, the demand for water has also increased. Today, I would like to share with you several methods and principles of tap water purification.
Four methods, principles, and functions for purifying water:
Sedimentation: Food insoluble impurities precipitate and settle with the water layer, causing insoluble large particles to settle or adding alum, forming a colloidal substance that adsorbs impurities and settles.
Filtration: Separating liquids from solid substances that are difficult to dissolve in liquids to remove insoluble impurities.
Adsorption: Utilizing the adsorption effect of substances to adsorb some insoluble impurities, odors, and pigments in water, removing insoluble impurities, some soluble impurities, odors, and pigments.
Distillation: water is turned into steam by heating and then condensed into water to remove soluble impurities and soften Water softening.
Methods of Water purification:
Adsorption, precipitation, filtration, distillation, sterilization
Adsorption: Alum and activated carbon are commonly used. Alum dissolves in water and forms a gel to adsorb suspended solids in water. Activated carbon can not only adsorb suspended solids in water, but also adsorb odorous substances and pigments in water.
Sedimentation: The suspended solids in water form dense particles after adsorption, causing impurities to settle.
Filtration: Remove insoluble impurities from water.
Distillation: Method of removing soluble impurities.
Sterilization: commonly used disinfectants: bleaching powder, chlorine and new disinfectant Chlorine dioxide.
Distillation has a higher degree of purification in a single operation of adsorption, precipitation, filtration, and distillation.
When used comprehensively, the purification effect is better by following the sequence of adsorption, sedimentation, filtration, and distillation
Tap water purification steps:
① Take water from the reservoir.
② Add flocculants (mainly alum) to adsorb and coagulate suspended small particulate impurities.
③ Settle and separate in the reaction sedimentation tank to clarify the water.
④ Pass the clarified water flowing from the sedimentation tank into the filter tank to further remove insoluble impurities.
⑤ Then introduce water into the activated carbon adsorption tank to remove the odor and residual small insoluble impurities in the water.
⑥ Bacterial disinfection (commonly used by introducing chlorine gas). It is a chemical transformation process, because the process of removing bacteria is the process of transforming bacteria into other substances.
⑦ The sterilized water is clean and drinkable tap water, which is supplied to users through a water pump. However, the water still contains some impurities that can be dissolved in water, so it is still a mixture.
These are the "several methods and principles of tap water purification" brought to you by Hongjie Water. I hope they can help you!
